What does 'Usable Floor Space' mean?
Find out what Usable Floor Space means. Usable Floor Space is explained by Tim Hill - author of Buying Property in Poland
Usable Floor Space
Usable floor space is often referred to in the sale of houses or attic flats. It means the amount of floor space that is full standing height. There is an important destinction between usable floor space and actual floor space particularly when it comes to houses as many are purpose built with the second floor incorporated into the pitched roof. Thus the difference between the two can vary dramatically.
On attic floor apartments this is also the case where it is not uncommon for up to one third of the property to not be 'usable' although it could still be utilised for storage, a bath, office desk and chair, etc.
