“I’m coming, I’m coming,” Beth said. She pushed her arms against the waves of white clouds, sticky like shaving cream foam. She tried moving her feet, but they too were suctioned by the white clouds.
“Hey you, wake up!”
What? Beth’s eyes flew open.
“I said wake up!”
She pushed at his hands.
“I’m awake; let go of me.” He dropped his hands.
