Gran Canaria is certainly a lot more Internet-savvy than when I first moved here in 2004. In the UK I bought most of what I needed/wanted online. When I arrived, a friend told me she kept a separate bank account for online purchases which she topped up as and when required. Looking back, this makes sense but at the time I couldn’t understand why she was so paranoid about shopping online.

The main ISP’s Telefonica who provide phone lines to most business and residential addresses. Orange are another alternative for all your broadband needs. And if you’re dongled-up, you can set up a pay-as-you-go 3G connection with providers such as Vodafone and Yoigo.
