What does 'Display Network' mean?

Display Network

These are websites that display Google Ads and you can decide to focus on them or opt out when you set up an Adwords campaign. In the display network you can also opt to show graphics (banners) rather than text advertisements and you can choose to Pay Per Click (PPC) or Pay Per Impression (PPI).
