What does 'Earthquakes' mean?
Find out what Earthquakes means. Earthquakes is explained by Jack Scott - author of Perking the Pansies
EarthquakesAn earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. Turkey sits astride a major earthquake zone. The Anatolian tectonic plate is surrounded by active fault lines. Turkey’s rugged landscape has been wrought by tectonic activity since the dawn of time and Turkey’s culture and history has been shaped by frequent and sometimes devastating quakes. The Izmit quake of 1999 killed or injured in excess of 60,000 people. The 2011 Van quake killed or injured 5,000. Perking the Pansies, Jack Scott’s bitter-sweet, tragi-comedy, recounts an earthquake that shook Jack and Liam from their bed.
