Leaving Stage

The second stage of the Transition Cycle that begins the moment you are aware of an upcoming change. There is a lot of conflicting emotions in this stage – anticipation mixed with sadness. There is typically a lot of denial that goes on and we sometimes see separation and distancing in relationships. The leaver must surrender roles and responsibilities. Dealing with grief is a major issue in the leaving stage. Leaving well has a profound effect on how you enter the next place so RAFT building is essential.
