A point in time that is no more; another season of life changes seemingly without notice; what was once coveted or shared has taken a subtle turn, gone awry and now snubbed.
We used to be carefree, kind and thoughtful: just family, friends, and neighbors; protective, supportive, and not destructive. Once upon a time we felt at ease: to share with no return expectations; talk all the time on the phone and with written words in cards and letters, too; spent time face-to-face at the cookouts and cook-ins; say what we mean, and mean what we say all with the other’s best interest at heart. We were close to inseparable so unlike how we are today.
But now with division looming in the midst, change is taking place for no longer do we:
Laugh, celebrate, and cry for one another, but now we smirk and mock instead;
Believe in each other, instead suspicion is the norm with uncertainty about sincerity;
Keep it real as we are not sure if each has the other’s back; or still believe in you for me and me for you, so we are standoffish, busy watching and waiting to see what’s really up.
How did we get here? I do not know for sure. The problem must be me; it could not be my family, friends, or neighbors; those I have held close to my heart.
Then how did I get here? My heart is infected growing cold and hard; it is now getting
numb for it is dying! I need help in a hurry to recharge, rejuvenate, and restore!
This is an emergency, an Aching Pain Bulletin, an APB of desperation!
I want my old heart back, the one that GOD gave me; this one is not it.
GOD, please cleanse my heart; make it new again; make it feel again; make it like Yours again.
I am praying fervently that I am not too late, that I have not crossed too far over the line, and that He will return me to my happy place again.
LIFE LESSONS 101: Folk Wisdom Sayings, Quotes and Common Sense
When you think you know what to do about a situation … STOP to pray and wait for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes an adult time out is needed to re-examine one’s heart in order to salvage a relationship of the heart that really matters.
“Others are merely mirrors of you. Do not live life in deception by assuming you are not the problem.” (Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Cosby)84
If I cannot trust you with my feelings and my heart, I cannot trust you in my life.
Sometimes you must remember the way a person used to be in order to keep on loving them today.
SPIRITUAL END ZONE: GOD’s WORD
Psalm 38:20-22 “They repay me evil for good and hate me for standing for the right. Don’t leave me, Lord; don’t go away! Come quickly! Help me, O my Savior.”
Psalm 51:10 (NCV) “Create in me a pure heart, God, and make my spirit right again.”
Psalm 77:2-6 (MSG) “I found myself in trouble and went looking for my Lord; my life was an open wound that wouldn’t heal. When friends said, ‘Everything will turn out all right,’ I didn’t believe a word they said. I remember God – and shake my head. I bow my head – then wring my hands. I’m awake all night – not a wink of sleep; I can’t even say what’s bothering me. I go over the days one by one, I ponder the years gone by. I strum my lute all through the night, wondering
how to get my life together.”
Psalm 119:25 (MSG) “I’m feeling terrible – I couldn’t feel worse! Get me on my feet again. You promised, remember?”
Psalm 119:28 (NCV) “I am sad and tired. Make me strong again as you have promised.”
Psalm 119:31-32 (MSG) “ I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me; GOD, don’t let me down! I’ll run the course you lay out for me if you’ll just show me how.”
Proverbs 17:17 (MSG) “Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.”
Proverbs 20:27 (NCV) “The Lord looks deep inside people and searches through their thoughts.”
Proverbs 25:17 (NCV) “Don’t go to your neighbor’s house too often; too much of you will make him hate you.”
Zechariah 8:16-17 “‘Here is your part: Tell the truth. Be fair. Live at peace with everyone. Don’t plot harm to others; don’t swear that something is true when it isn’t! How I hate
all that sort of thing!’ says the Lord.”
Romans 3:10 (NCV) “As the Scriptures say: There is no one who always does what is right, not even one.”
